Meet Our Animal Buddies:

Meet Reishi

Meet Reishi, Kris’s lovable and energetic lab mix adopted from Lucky Dog Refuge in Stamford back in 2022. His whole litter was named after mushrooms, and Kris couldn’t resist the name Reishi! Though he lives at home with Kris, he’s a regular visitor here at the store. If you catch him on one of his visits, don’t forget to ask to see his spin tric

Meet Frankie

Frankie has been with us since 2010, and while we’re not exactly sure of his age, we think he’s around 17. He’s not the cuddliest cat, but beneath his tough guy act, he’s a softie—especially when staff offer him ear scratches or a bite of their lunch. Frankie roams the store freely and loves lounging in the nursery on nice days (or on top of the catnip, if we’ve got it!).

Meet Blue & Stella

Meet Blue and Stella, our sister cats who joined us from Lucky Dog Refuge in February 2023. Named after the Grateful Dead song Stella Blue, these two couldn’t be more different. Stella (black) is a sweet, reserved snuggle bug, while Blue (grey) is our fearless climber and resident troublemaker. They’re strictly indoor kitties, so be sure to look for them next time you’re in the store!

Meet Bentley

Bentley is our blue-fronted Amazon parrot, turning 24 this year and still a young guy with a lot of personality! He’s been part of the store for nearly 15 years and is known for saying “hello,” “hi,” and letting out the occasional hearty laugh—especially when kids are around (his favorite). While he does talk, he also does bite, so please keep fingers clear of his cage! Bentley enjoys a diet of seeds, nuts, fruits, and veggies... but he won’t say no to a glazed donut now and then. 😉

Meet Pepper & Jack

Bentley’s neighbors are our cockatiels, Pepper and Jack. Pepper’s been with us for 15 years, and despite living solo most of that time, he quickly bonded with Jack when they met. They don’t talk, but they’re great at mimicking sounds—especially whistling. Jack even does a freestyle take on “If You’re Happy and You Know It”! Both love attention, so be sure to say hi when you’re in the store.

Meet Our Pond Pals

Truth be told, our koi pond only has one actual koi—a big white fish lovingly called “Great White” or “Big Whitey” by the staff, and they’ve been here for over 21 years! The rest are comets and goldfish, many of which were rehomed here after outgrowing their bowls. The fish stay in the pond year-round, braving the winters with a little help from a heater, and in summer, they share the space with frogs and dragonflies.

You're always welcome to come by and say hello!
