OUR STORY

Plants have always been part of our lives. Over time, our focus became helping people feel comfortable, capable, and supported as they learn.

The Gardener’s Center grew from that idea—a family-owned, deeply local business built around honest guidance, thoughtful plant selection, and real connection to the community. We’re proud of the trust people place in us, season after season, and we work hard to earn it every day.

We keep things simple and intentional.

● We choose plants that perform well in real gardens and real conditions

● We work with growers we trust and prioritize quality over quantity

● We believe good guidance makes gardening more enjoyable and more successful

● We see our role as guides—here to help you choose well and grow with confidence.

● We try to do things thoughtfully—for our customers, our team, and the planet

The Gardener's Center

A PLACE TO LAND

Many people tell us this is their happy place—a spot to step out of the day, wander among plants, and feel a little calmer just being here.

We love that. But we also love helping people leave feeling more confident than when they arrived. Relaxed, supported, and ready to grow something that feels right.

The Gardener's Center

The Gardener's Center

BIO

I’ve spent years working with plants and listening to the people who grow them. What I’ve learned is that most gardeners aren’t looking for perfection—they’re looking for reassurance.

The Gardener’s Center was built around that idea. A place where people can slow down, ask questions, and feel supported as they learn. It reflects how I garden myself: curious, patient, and always open to trying something new.

Most mornings, the first place I go is out to the vegetable garden—barefoot, coffee in hand. I’m playful and a bit messy in the garden, and I like to experiment. I try new things every year, knowing that not everything will work. That’s part of it. I grow because I enjoy growing.

My background is in green infrastructure and biophilic design, focused on bringing plants into difficult, often overlooked places. Because of that, I’m drawn to natural, low-input gardening—plants and systems that work with their surroundings instead of fighting them. I try to keep things practical and as easy as possible.

These days, most of my energy goes into edible gardening and my own version of a food forest, with a slight obsession for pawpaws and other tough, easy-to-grow fruit trees. It’s simply how I like to garden—trying things out, keeping it simple, and focusing on what actually works.
